Ving Tsun Kung Fu offers a unique way to get in shape, build confidence, increase relaxation in daily life, and create a better body image. Kung Fu training has been proven to aid in relieving routine stress as well as helping in extreme situations.
Boulder Ving Tsun Kung Fu will have an “Open House” the first Wednesday of the month from 7-9 pm. Our studio location is at 4645 N Broadway St. Suite C-4 inside Yoga Intentions. From roughly 7-8 pm will be a social hour. Have some tea, meet Sifu Bryan, get your questions answered and check out our studio. Following that, there will be a free introductory class for those aged 13+ who wish to participate.
If you plan to stay for the free introductory lesson, you will want to wear loose, comfortable clothing to work out in. You’ll also need clean, dry, indoor shoes. No street shoes. You may also want to have some water. Young adults in middle or high school must have a parent or guardian co-sign the liability waver. The workout will be suitable for all skill levels.
Ving Tsun Kung Fu (pronounced wing chun) is an ancient Chinese martial art that was designed in times of war as an effective military technology. We practice it in modern times to defend ourselves in the streets, as well as explore our own economy of motion, and to develop deeper relaxation. The main principles of the system are centerline, efficiency, and relaxation.
Ving Tsun Kung Fu is a fighting martial art. Unlike a more conventional gym, these classes are exclusively geared towards learning kung fu for the purpose of effective self defense and fighting ability. Increases in relaxation and physical fitness naturally follow.
Originally created by a woman for a woman, Ving Tsun is a system that builds fighting attributes in all body types, regardless of stature or physical fitness. The three main tenets: relaxation, efficiency and center line focus, all combine to create an effective Self Defense system that relies on technique. For example, women who practice Ving Tsun are able to use it to defend themselves against attack much easier than many other styles.
Sifu Bryan Pierce has been training in the Moy Yat Ving Tsun System since 1997 under his Sifu, Master Robert “Moy Yat Tung” Squatrito. His interest in martial arts started in 1985 when he began Tae Kwon Do, and later in college some Tai Chi, Ba Gua, and Hsing I. Sifu Bryan later joined his Sifu’s inner circle (ICC) and that of his Sigung, Grandmaster Anthony Moy Tung Daindridge (MY4). In 2000 Sifu Bryan was certified as a Sifu by the late Grandmaster Moy Yat and GM Moy Tung. In 2004 Sifu Bryan began taking on students in Iowa City, IA. In 2017 Sifu Bryan made the move to Boulder, CO and is currently taking new students and bringing this lineage of Ving Tsun to Boulder.
